Are you losing pounds for the sake of saving pennies?

I want to tell you a short story about something I saw happen at a recent networking event I was at.
A business owner told us about a great new product she was offering. There was lots of interest in the room.
Seriously, there were 2 people who actually put their hand up and said they wanted to buy it. There were others who were also showing big signs of interest and were curious to know more.
Now I go to a lot of networking, and I would absolutely love to get this kind of reaction, wouldn’t you?
The business owner stood to make over £300 from each sale she made.
So what did she do? She told the people who put their hands up that she would contact them when she was less busy, as she had a lot going on at the moment.
What??
I was curious to know what was keeping her too busy to close these sales immediately and be looking at making in the region of £1200 if she sold just 4 of her products. (Easily achievable from the interest I saw).
Well it turns out she did have a lot going on.  I won’t go into the in’s and out’s of it – but let’s just say that cleaning, ironing and admin were involved. She had a lot of stuff to do, sure.
Can you relate to this at all? Putting off getting in a significant chuck of money for probably about 1 day’s work, because you’re too busy doing lower paid work?
Let me tell you, my cleaner charges £10 an hour and I pay for 3 hours each week. My ironing costs around £30 a fortnight to have collected and delivered back to me in pristine condition.
A really good Virtual Assistant business I know charges £20 an hour.
I can also highly recommend a call answering service that is less than all of the above!
I want you to think long and hard about where you are really busy doing lower paid work, than what you could be bringing into your business if you focused more time on sales and marketing.
Because the story I gave you above is one that I see happening all the time, and may well be happening right now in your business but you are too busy too see what is right under your nose.
