10 Mar Power Hours – When was the last time you used this tried and tested way to work ON your business?
This weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to speak at a conference to rural professionals, sharing my talk on ‘The Secrets of Super Productive People’.
It’s been a little while since I was speaking to an actual room full of people rather than over Zoom, and it felt wonderful! Although I think Zoom definitely has it’s place, the energy from being in the room together is something different.
It’s why I’m so excited to be running my small group coaching programme, Business Growth Masterplan, back in person again very soon. There is something so powerful about being with like-minded business owners, and learning together.
After working as a business coach with small business owners for nearly 11 years now (and all my time in the corporate world before), I’ve got a huge amount of productivity tips to share.
The challenge with this is, sharing the ones that are going to have the biggest impact for you without overwhelming you.
For today, here’s an oldie but definitely a goodie.
It’s Business Power Hours.
Business Power Hours are a way to get the important stuff done and work ON your business.
Ideally, you set aside the first working hour of each day as a Power Hour.
Tips to make them work:
- Have a clear list of tasks that are suitable for Power Hours – no client work, it’s all about working ON your business
- Make sure these tasks can be chunked down into an hour or less
- Do not open email, social media or anything else that will distract you – focus on the task in hand only
- If you can’t manage an hour each day, do what you can. If you can only do them twice a week, that’s an extra 2 hours of work done. If you can only do half an hour each day, that’s 2.5 hours extra.
- Always, ALWAYS, do them at the start of your day – if you say to yourself that you’ll do it when you’ve got everything else done, you will never get round to it.
- Try them out, and let me know how you get on.
