25 Sep Is this syndrome holding you back?
Are you suffering from ‘when this, then that’ syndrome in your business?
In other words, you’re delaying doing something today and putting it off for a future date, waiting until something else has happened first.
For example:
“When I have my next employee in place, then I’ll be able to work less hours”
“When I have more customers, then I’ll be able to increase my pricing”
“When I have a full day clear in my diary, then I’ll work on my business planning”
The problem with using ‘when this, then that’ language, is that you are training your brain to put conditions in place and putting the actions you need to take constantly in the future.
Instead, ask yourself “What action could I take right now, to move me nearer my goals?”
And, if your answer still involves ‘when this, then that’, then keep asking various forms of this question until you have something you can do, right now.
“What could I do this week to reduce my working hours, until I can get a team member on board?”
“How can I increase my pricing with the current customers I have?”
“How can I find some time for business planning without having a full day out?”
Don’t get caught up thinking you can only take action on your goals in the future – start today!
